Moroccan Hand of Hamsa

A popular protective amulet throughout the Middle East and Northern Africa, the Hand of Hamsa is believed to ward off evil and negative energy. Also known as the Hand of Fatima in India and other Himalayan regions, this hand of Hamsa is originally from Morocco.

In the Jewish religion, the Hamsa represents the Hand of God. Many Jews believe the hamsa symbolizes the hand of Miriam, sister of Moses and Aaron. In the Islamic faith, the hand represents the Hand of Fatima, the daughter of Mohammed. Predating these religions, originating with the Phoenicians, the hand has been associated with offering protection      against evil and misfortune.
